CVC Clip Cards for Preschool and Kindergarten Kids
Why Use CVC Clip Cards for Decoding?
Many children learn the alphabet sounds first. However, some children do not pay attention to each sound in a word. Instead, they often guess the word by looking at the picture.
These CVC clip cards help children slow down and read words the right way. They encourage children to decode instead of guess.
Children point to each letter and say its sound. Then they slowly blend the sounds together to read the whole word. After reading the word, they find the matching picture and attach a clothespin (peg) to the correct answer.
This hands-on activity builds strong phonics and decoding skills. It also improves letter-sound recognition, sound blending, and reading fluency.
This printable pack includes 72 CVC clip cards covering all five short vowel sounds: a, e, i, o, and u. These clip cards are perfect for literacy centers, small-group lessons, independent practice, and home learning.
Regular practice helps children become more confident readers and develop the skills they need to read simple CVC words with ease.
